Project Help
We have a new part-time maintenance person, Brett Rauzi, who is available for many different types of home projects such as dryer vent cleaning, wasp control, deck staining, small landscaping projects, etc. He is skilled and reasonably priced. You can contact him at 319-929-8510. Tell him you are a resident here at Greenhill Village when you call. If you have a project he is not qualified for, he may be able to recommend another trusted local worker.
Feeding Wildlife
We have asked for years that our members not feed the wild geese and ducks. We have appreciated all who have observed this request and have been too lax with those that are disregarding this official GVTA Regulation. Due to the waterfowl that are now dying from Bird Flu we are restating our very definite regulation that the wildlife not be fed on GVTA Property.
According to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, feeding live waterfowl:
Accelerates Bird Flu: The feeding area becomes trampled and muddy, feces is spread, unnatural competition for the food creates increased spreading of the disease, not only to other waterfowl but to humans and pets and other wildlife.
Unnatural competition: Feeding geese creates unnatural competition for food, which can delay their migration.
Pollutes the environment: Feeding geese can pollute the environment.
Harms the geese: Foods like bread and popcorn are low in nutrition and high in carbohydrates, which can prevent geese from finding the food they need. Even commercial food creates an unnatural cycle and digestion for the birds.
Wild geese have enough food: Wild geese have plenty of healthy food in their natural habitat.
This regulation is no longer a request, it will be enforced as follows:
First violation: You may receive a warning letter if the Board feels you really did not have exposure to this regulation, but you will probably receive your first fine which will be $50. If you do not own your condo you have an obligation to communicate with the owner about this issue as you have put their property at risk. The Board will also consult with owners at each violation. You will have 30 days to pay the fine to Suzana, property manager. You have a right to ask for a meeting with the Compliance Committee before the 30 days expires.
Each additional violation: The fine will double at each violation. After 3 months of unpaid fines a lien will be placed by the Board on the named property.
This letter and its posting constitutes informative warning to all property owners and renters, please stop feeding wildlife and protect the safety of your community, GVTA Board
